and Student Supports

Are you:
An athlete with a schedule that doesn't adhere to a traditional school day?
A student who prefers to learn in a smaller and quieter environment?
A student who works outside the school day to support your family and needs flexible school times?
A student who would like to graduate early?
The ACHS Satellite Campus allows students to select a school session (morning or afternoon) that works best for their particular schedule. Many of our students require a more flexible schedule than commonly available in a traditional high school setting. However, there is a daily and weekly attendance expectation.
Each ACHS Satellite student is assigned an academic adviser who carefully monitors student progress.
ACHS Satellite students are able to participate in all extracurricular clubs and activities at Alexandria City High School, including sports.
-
The Chance for Change Academy will equip students with the tools to manage their behavior and identify necessary resources needed to improve their academic achievement through (a) behavioral interventions and supports and (b) therapeutic interventions and supports incorporated into the instructional day. The Academy serves as a temporary placement for students whose matriculation in the traditional setting had been disrupted by various circumstances and also, based on a case-by-case basis, for students that request participation in the Academy.
-
Support for English Language Learners.
The International Academy, offered at Alexandria City High School and at Francis C. Hammond Middle School, addresses the unique needs of immigrant English Learners as they accomplish the challenging task of graduating college-ready, while simultaneously learning English.
Through the innovative use of strategic grouping, experiential learning, collaboration, and language and content integration, students are provided the targeted supports and strategies required for their success.

Our
Campuses
-
The newly enlarged and renovated Braddock Road Campus is the site of many Career Tech programs along with many other learning options.
-
King Street Campus is the original site of Alexandria City High School (formerly T.C. Williams High School). It is home to students in grades 10 through 12 and is the center for many classes, events, and extracurricular activities for all students enrolled at Alexandria City High School.
Alexandria City High School opened in 1965 as T.C. Williams High School as a desegregated high school amalgamated from Francis C. Hammond High School, George Washington High School, and Parker-Gray High School. In 2007, a new state-of-the-art, environmentally green school opened its doors at the present site. In 2021, the school was renamed to Alexandria City High School.
